President Emmerson Mnangagwa has officially launched the India-Africa Incubation Centre which is meant for training women and youths and prepares them for employment creation and strengthening the SMEs sector as Zimbabwe embarks on economic revival.
The centre aims at growing SMEs so that they can create tomorrow’s business people.
The project is housed under the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development in conjunction with the government of India through their Harare embassy.
The incubation centre trains young entrepreneurs in wire-making and hardware, producing nails and paper clips.
The second division deals with tomato ketchup and fruit juice production, bread-making, coffee-making and oil expressing.
The paper section produces tissue papers, cardboard and chart paper.
There is also a section dealing with sewing and knitting of socks, scarfs and jerseys and bottle-making.
The President toured the different divisions before addressing the guests who attended the launch and saw how the centre can breed young entrepreneurs and create the much needed jobs and realisation of Vision 2030.
The launch was also attended by Vice President Kembo Mohadi, Defence Minister Oppah Muchinguri Kashiri, Women’s Affairs, Community and SMEs Minister Sithembiso Nyoni, President of the Senate Mabel Chinomona, Indian ambassador to Zimbabwe Mr Rungsung Masakui, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda, his deputies who included Deputy Chief Secretary Communications George Charamba and Ambassador Nicholas Kitikiti.
