Missing 4 -5 stops Funeral

MBAZIMA Makhubele’s relatives made a shocking discovery when they insisted on viewing his body. They found the 49-year-old’s 4-5 and his intestines were missing! It was also apparent that the soft flesh from his inner thigs had been sliced off with a sharp object. The family from Blinkwater, outside Giyani in Limpopo, was forced to cancel his funeral. Mbazima died last Saturday in a suspected hit and run accident about 2km from his house.

His aunt Flora told Daily Sun they became suspicious when they visited the mortuary at Elim Hospital and were only allowed to see the head. We asked to see his full body but the mortuary staff refused. We went the next day as well and were told they were busy with a post mortem,” she said.

She said when their private undertaker went to fetch the body on Thursday, he told them the body was bleeding badly. When we took clothes to dress his body, they wouldn’t take the pants. They said it would be impossible to dress him,” said Flora.

She said the family believed Mbazima was killed and mutilated before his body was run over by a car to make it look like an accident. Limpopo health department spokesman Neil Shikwambana said mortuary staff told the family the body could only be viewed in the presence of an investigating officer as a criminal case had been opened.

Police spokesman Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said a case of culpable homicide was opened after Mbazima died.

“But we received a complaint from the family on Sunday about the missing body parts. We have since collected the corpse to conduct another post mortem,” he said.
