Messi Names World’s 5 Best Players, Excludes Cristiano & Himself

FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has named who he thinks are the five current best players in the world and explained why he excluded his longstanding rival Cristiano Ronaldo and himself.

The Argentine and his Portuguese rival have dominated world football for the past decade, with many believing they are the best players of their generation and arguably in history.

Messi now named five other players as best in the game, before suggesting that Ronaldo and himself are a level above the rest.

“I don’t want to forget anyone, but I think that Neymar, (Kylian) Mbappe, (Eden) Hazard, Luis Suarez and (Sergio) Aguero are the best,” he told Radio 94.7 Club Octubre

“I didn’t include Cristiano Ronaldo in that list, because I consider him to be on the same level as me.”

The Blaugrana captain also revealed that he missed his longstanding rival in LaLiga, despite Ronaldo making him suffer in the past.

“I miss Cristiano, although it was a bit difficult to see him win trophies, he gave LaLiga prestige,” he added.

“It was fun to play against him, even if he made me suffer too. It irritated me seeing Real Madrid lift trophies.

“I do wish he was still in Spain, but I have a great deal of respect for Juventus.

They seem a very strong squad, with excellent players, and are now even stronger with Cristiano.”

Messi has scored 39 goals and assisted another 21 in just 37 games in all competitions this season.
