Kylian Mbappe to become World’s Highest-Paid Player?

With Neymar wanting to return to FC Barcelona, French champions Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly set to make Kylian Mbappe the highest-paid player in world football to fend off any potential offers for his signature. It appears likely Neymar will leave PSG in this transfer window, especially after he made it clear to the Ligue 1 winners he wants to return to Barca.

Afraid that Mbappe could follow suit in the 2020/21 season, Les Parisiens are reportedly ready to offer the 20-year-old the contract of a lifetime to ensure he does not leave the club any time soon.

According to El Pais, the 2018 Fifa World Cup winner will be offered a five-year deal worth €50 million (R783 million) a season, which is said to be more than Messi’s annual salary at the Catalan giants.

That would also be more than what Neymar is currently earning in France, and far more than what Cristiano Ronaldo is being paid at Juventus in Italy.

Manchester City have reportedly shown interest in Mbappe, with the report claiming that Pep Guardiola has been in contact with him since 2017.
