Melbourne’s Federation Square was converted into a replica of the iconic Old Trafford changing room as Manchester United and Adidas launched our 2022/23 away kit to supporters.
The white stripe, which was released earlier today and is available now on United Direct, was marked on Tour 2022 with a special event in the Australian city.
United’s Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Bruno Fernandes and Scott McTominay were all on location with Adidas to show off the fresh look.
Hosted by Reds legends Andy Cole and Bryan Robson, thousands of fans gathered at the renowned Australian landmark, during the club’s first visit to Melbourne since 1999.
Revealing the 22/23 away kit to anticipating fans, the event took place ahead of United’s match against Crystal Palace on Tuesday 19 July – where the team will don the New Jersey for the first time.
Embracing the legendary history of the away days, the new Manchester United 22/23 away kit takes inspiration from the classic white kit, combined with the iconic red and black Adidas three stripes and a v-neck with geometric shapes.
Weaved into the fabric of the shirt, the helix pattern represents the three pillars of the club’s philosophy and DNA: youth, courage and success.
Reds defender Shaw said: “Touring Australia and connecting with our fans ‘Down Under’ has been a highlight of our preseason training. It’s exciting to be here in Melbourne to launch the away kit.
“It is exciting to launch the new away kit in Australia, featuring a design which draws on the rich history of our club and jersey.
“The 22/23 away jersey captures the magic of Old Trafford in a new design, paying homage to some of the club’s most legendary kits and players.”
Simon Millar, vice president of Brand APAC explained: “Continuing our commitment to sports innovation, the 22/23 away kit has been designed to encapsulate the spirit of football.
“Unveiling the 22/23 Manchester United away kit in Melbourne is a memorable moment for Adidas, showcasing an iconic Jersey to Australia’s football fans, in our nation’s sporting capital.
“Having the players travel in style to Melbourne’s iconic Federation Square, on a tram decked out in MUFC colours, has been an unforgettable experience for Adidas, the club and our city.”
The 22/23 Manchester United away jersey will be worn on the pitch for the first time when the team take on Crystal Palace at the MCG on Tuesday 19th July.
The away kit is available now to purchase via United Direct and Adidas.
