Big Nuz members Danger and Mampintsha FIGHT – He arrives at gigs late & leaves during his set

Bad blood is brewing among members of the award-winning kwaito group Big Nuz. This after Mampintsha (real name Mandla Maphumulo) walked out on a performance of the two-man band at the annual Fact Durban Rocks festival on New Year’s Eve.

According to an insider, Mampintsha’s actions left co-star Danger (real name Mzi Tshomela) confused.

Said the informant: “Things weren’t good between them. Hence Big Nuz will never reunite. Since the event, they haven’t spoken because of the humiliation Danger faced that day.”

The insider claimed Mampintsha was irritated because he was billed to perform at the event as Big Nuz, not as himself.

“Danger has a song with Durban duo Shakes no Singil and has been performing with them. He’d performed with them in five shows ahead the Fact Durban Rocks event,” the insider said.

“In their performances, they also performed Big Nuz songs and that didn’t sit well with Mampintsha. He thought the guys were bringing Big Nuz back without him.”

The insider claimed those Big Nuz performances without Mampintsha encouraged Danger to approach organiser DJ Tira (real name Mthokozi Khathi) to be featured in the Fact Durban Rocks line-up.

Insisted the mole: “Tira became excited and announced Big Nuz would be billed to perform in the show.

“Mampintsha wasn’t impressed by that decision, especially after learning Danger would perform Big Nuz songs with the duo.”

Another source said storming off stage was part of Mampintsha’s brand.

Explained the source: “He arrives at gigs late and leaves during his set.

Danger and Mampintsha

“He did the same during the Ndwedwe Music Festival, which also featured Danger in its line-up. He was angry because Danger was again billed to perform as Big Nuz at that event.”

Danger said: “There is no such thing, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Mampintsha could not be reached for comment, he also failed to respond to our SMSes.

Tira said Mampintsha was late for the Big Nuz performance.

He said: “He didn’t want to wait for the next available Big Nuz slot. So Danger couldn’t perform because Mampintsha had to go to other performances.”
