Mampintsha quits music

Durban-based ‘Gqom’ artist Mampintsha said he would no longer be releasing music due to ongoing “beef” with some of his industry peers. The West Ink record label owner says he would leave fans with ‘indlovukazi’ Babes Wodumo.

In a video he posted on his Facebook page on Wednesday, Mampinstha explained in IsiZulu that there were some people who were not happy with him in the industry.

“I see there are some people who are not happy, not fans but people I used to be close with, you can see it’s not so great, they have posters and they don’t support me, this is not giving up.

“This should be my last year releasing music and I will try other things. I’m releasing Iphakamisa on Friday and in the following weeks I’m releasing a bonus track

“Maybe people will be happy if I quit, they have sampled my music but they don’t even greet me, most of the songs you hear were sampled by me. I would like to thank my fans, I love you, thank you for the support, I will leave you with ‘indlovukazi’ Babes Wodumo.”

In July this year, it was reported that DJ Thukzin and singer Madanon left Mampintsha’s record label, West Ink.

They alleged that the record-label owner was not paying what was due to them.

In the same month ‘Gqom’ duo Distruction Boyz took to social media and claimed that Mampintsha’s West Ink owed them money for the work they did on Babes Wodumo’s hit track Wololo.
