Makhura disputes allegations over Alex project funding

Gauteng Premier David Makhura has disputed allegations that former President Thabo Mbeki allocated over R1-billion to the Alexandra Renewal Project.

He says the project was run by the City of Johannesburg in collaboration with the Gauteng government.

Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba and others have questioned what happened to money allocated by Mbeki’s administration.

Makhura says the city has all the records and can account for the funds used.

“There are historical issues that are around the Alexandra Renewal Project.
