He started writing the song a year ago when the country was experiencing social unrest, xenophobic attacks, gender-based violence and marches. There was a common goal people were fighting for pre-1994, but as of now, people are fighting against each other.  It is even more important now as we face a new enemy, This is the time that we all need to sit back and comprehend just how much we rely on each other and the fact that we need one another

Lerato said that he went through life trying to hide his father away, as he is the son of actor Jerry Mofokeng. He strived to make it on his own within the industry and be his own person. He went on to say that he grew up realizing that it played a big part of his heritage. Listening to African praise poets, entering into a room it is the ancestors that introduce you, which are your forefathers. You are been announced for the person you are and recognized as such.
