If rumours are to be believed, Kelly Khumalo has scored the acting gig of her life! The Gcwala singer has been tipped to play the late and great Lebo Mathosa in a biopic we have been waiting for, for the longest time.
Lebo, who died in a car crash in 2006 was part of legendary kwaito/pop group Boom Shaka. Reports of a biopic have been teased for the past few years, but it seems there’s never been anyone in mind to take on the iconic role.
City Press reports that Kelly is a forerunner for the coveted position for a six-part TV series on BET Africa titled; The Lebo Mathosa Story.
Sources tell the publication that Kelly will take on the role as an adult Lebo, whilst Bahumi Madisakwane – Somizi and Palesa’s daughter will play a younger Lebo.
“Kelly has big shoes to fill. She can also sing but she has to work hard on improving her dancing moves. We hope she will do justice to Lebo’s character,” a source told the publication.
