A Los Angeles jury found Katy Perry guilty of stealing hit single, Dark Horse.
In 2014, Christian rapper, Marcus Gray accused Katy Perry of stealing his song, Joyful Noise featuring Lecrae and Reilly and renaming it to Dark Horse.
Gray who’s known as Flame with his two co-authors Emanuel Lambert known as Da’ T.R.U.T.H and Chike Ojukwu claimed that their songs was plagiarised. He went to say his song was irreparably tarnished by its association with the witchcraft, paganism, black magic and Illuminati imagery evoked by the same music in Dark Horse.
Flame and his co-authors filed a copyright lawsuit against the Carllifornia Gurls hit maker and five other people she worked with in the song. This includes Juicy J, Dr Luke, Max Martin, Cirkut and Sarah Hudson.
After five years of the on-going case, the jury decided on Tuesday, 30 July that Katy Perry is guilty of stealing the song.
From now on, the case will go to penalty court where the jury will decide how much the singer and the co-authors will have to pay for the damages caused.
