With Leonardo Castro missing out through suspension, Gustavo Paez was restored to the line up while Sibusis Khumalo was also handed a start for Chiefs.

Amakhosi thought they had opened the scoring after 23 minutes when George Maluleka put the ball in the back of the net, but the midfielder’s goal was ruled out for offside.

The deadlock was eventually broken in the 30th minute, with the returning Paez getting his name on the scoresheet.

Bernard Parker had a chance to double Chiefs’ lead just before the break, but he failed to beat Mpandle from close range and the score remained 1-0 at the break.

After a lively start to the second half, Chiefs nearly doubled their lead on the hour mark with Siphiwe Tshabala firing inches wide of the upright.

Seven minutes later, Chiefs found a second goal as substitute Dumisani Zuma lobbed Mpandle to double the home side’s advantage.

The Team of Choice found it tough to carve out chances against a resolute Chiefs defence.

Chiefs opted for a double change on 79 minutes with Edmore Chirambadare and Philani Zulu being introduced for the final stages of the half.

In the end, the AmaKhosi managed to see out the remaining stages with relative ease to claim three points.
