Jeremy Renner thanks fans for messages after accident

Hollywood actor Jeremy Renner has taken to social media with a message for his fans after suffering a serious accident at the weekend.

Renner, who is best known for his role as Hawkeye in several Marvel Universe films, was airlifted to hospital on New Year’s Day after being run over by his snow plow at his home near Reno, Nevada. “Thank you all for your kind words,” Renner wrote on Instagram on Tuesday, alongside a photo of himself lying in his hospital bed. “Im [sic] too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all.

In a statement released to news media on Tuesday, Renner’s publicist, Samantha Mast, said the 51-year-old is still in intensive care but is “stable”.

“Jeremy is making positive progress and is awake, talking and in good spirits,” Mast revealed. “He remains in ICU in critical but stable condition. He is overwhelmed by the showing of love and support. The family asks for your continued thoughts while he heals with his close loved ones.
In a press conference on Tuesday, police said Renner had been trying to clear snow from the driveway of his home when he was hit by his PistenBully snow plow, which weighs around 14,000 lbs.

“At this point in this investigation, we do not believe Mr Renner was impaired at all, and we believe this is a tragic accident,” Sheriff Darin Balaam, of Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, told reporters.

“Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is in possession of his PistenBully and we are analysing it to rule out any potential mechanical failure [and find out] why it may have started to roll […]. We do not suspect any foul play
