iQOO Neo6 in for review

The iQOO Neo6 that began its international rollout today has landed at our office for a full review. Our unit comes in Dark Nova color, but there’s one more option – Cyber Rage. It’s also worth mentioning that we are talking about the global/Indian Neo6 here, which is different from the Neo6 launched in China last month.

Before we proceed further to see what the global Neo6 offers, let’s check out its retail package. The smartphone comes in a black-colored box – which is smaller than the more expensive iQOO 9 lineup’s package – and includes a protective case, some paperwork, a SIM card ejector tool, USB-C cable, 80W charger, and, surprisingly, a USB-C to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter.

The global Neo6 is built around a 6.62″ FullHD+ 120Hz E4 AMOLED screen having 1,300 nits peak brightness. It also has a 1,200Hz instant and 360Hz touch sampling rate and comes with HDR10+ certification.

Under the display is a fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication, which is fast and accurate, but its placement could’ve been a bit higher for easier reach. The panel also has a punch hole in the center for the 16MP selfie shooter.

The back cover of the iQOO Neo6 features a big camera island housing LED flash and three cameras – 64MP primary (with OIS), 8MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro. The polycarbonate rear panel of our Dark Nova version flaunts a glittery pattern and has a non-glossy finish, which makes it resistant to fingerprint smudges to some extent but doesn’t help enough with the grip.

The iQOO Neo6’s frames are also made of polycarbonate, with the right-side frame sporting the power button and volume rocker. At the bottom is the USB-C port flanked by the speaker, SIM card slot, and primary microphone, and up top is the IR blaster joined by the secondary mic.

The iQOO Neo6 has the Snapdragon 870 SoC under the hood with 8GB/12GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage. The smartphone runs Android 12-based Funtouch OS 12 out of the box with the April 2022 Android security patch, and iQOO has promised two years of Android and three years of monthly security updates for the smartphone.

Keeping the entire package up and running is a 4,700 mAh battery, advertised to go from 1% to 50% in 12 minutes and 100% in 32 minutes with the bundled 80W power adapter. The rest of the global iQOO Neo6’s highlights include 5G connectivity, IP52 rating, 4D Game Vibration with X-Axis linear motor, stereo speakers, and Hi-Res audio certification.

The smartphone also comes with a Cascade Cooling System having a vapor chamber area of 2396mm² and a total liquid cooling area of 36907mm² for efficient heat transfer. The system also uses 5-layer 3D graphite cooling plates to further accelerate heat dissipation and provide sustained performance.
