DJ Zinhle said she believes in letting go for the sake of her own growth

We’ve all had to forgive and if there’s one person who has shown us that it’s better to let go and move on with your life, it’s DJ Zinhle. After her very public split from AKA, the DJ and rapper have worked through their issues and have publicly shown how their relationship has been mended.

In an interview with Dennis Ngango, Zinhle said that although forgiving someone was a lot, it’s better for your own development in the long run.

“My first real lesson with forgiveness was with my dad when he passed. Not forgiving is when you are angry and holding a grudge… it’s energy. It’s exhausting. And you have to wake up every day and remember that that person did you wrong.”

Zinhle said she gets lots of messages from people about being cheated on and how they haven’t been able to move on with their lives.

“The energy of not forgiving and letting go is a lot. It takes away from you more than anyone else. You have to let things go for the sake of yourself. And there’s a lot that you can learn from it. Learning comes from accepting that this was meant to happen and understanding that there’s a lesson.”

Zinhle was also asked how she remains grounded despite all the things that have happened to her. She said she takes time out for herself and reads to grow herself.

“Reading helps me get a different perspective. I realised that I should listen to people who know me. Why should I pay attention to people who bash me and don’t even know me?”
