Parliament is calling on all South Africans to support and protect each other as the country celebrates freedom under lockdown. Parliament said it is disappointing that some are not joining the fight against COVID-19 by breaking lockdown restrictions.
It also says it’s regrettable that some law enforcement officers allegedly abused their power. But it heaped praise on President Cyril Ramaphosa for his clear communication. Parliament stated all citizens have an equal chance of survival during and beyond this pandemic.
Tata Nelson Mandela, said: “For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.” The fierce battle against this pandemic is about the right to life and human dignity, and these are basic freedoms…
