Masasa Mbangeni excited about her SAFTA nomination

Masasa has been nominated for Best Actress in a TV drama for her role as Celia Jele in e.tv’s Harvest.

Actress Masasa Mbangeni is excited about her nomination at this year’s South African Television and Film Awards.

Masasa MbangeniShe said this year’s awards are very special because she has been nominated by her former schoolmates, Thuso Mbedu and Zola Nombona.

Masasa Mbangeni“I have won before and it would be nice to win again. But being nominated with Thuso and Zola is already a win for me. They are great actresses and have done exceptionally well in the entertainment industry.


“This also shows that the industry is growing and the quality of talent produced in Mzansi is outstanding.”

Masasa said she enjoyed playing Celia.“It was a most interesting role because it made me discover things I didn’t think I was capable of doing.

“And I have to compliment Portia Gumede and the rest of the crew who ensured that Celia was appreciated by viewers at home.” She told SunBuzz she is passionate about her work.

After Harvest, Masasa was part of a theatre production called The Suitcase.

The South African Television and Film Awards will be held at Sun City, North West on 22 March and will be broadcast on SABC2 on 24 March at 7.30pm.
