Mshoza opens up about her abuse from Hubby

Violence against women in SA in the spotlight as Mshoza speaks up about her experience. South Africa has worryingly high incidents of gender-based violence against women and girls, and most recently kwaito singer Mshoza spoke about her experience.

Sowetan reported that she had spoken to them about threats, assaults and attacks at the hands of her husband Thuthukani Mvula and that he had kicked her out of their home in Bergeville, KwaZulu-Natal, and burnt her clothes.

Mshoza claimed that her husband threatened to kill her and bury her in their house so that no one would find out.

Earlier today, Thuthukani was released on R5000 bail after handing himself over to police amid allegations from Mshoza that he had physically assaulted her.

On Monday, Mshoza’s manager Thanduxolo Jindela released a statement in which he confirmed that her national tour which was supposed to take place from 11 May until 31 May had been cancelled “due to events beyond her control”.

Mshoza apologised to her fans and promised to return soon.

Thandoxulo told TshisaLive that she was hiding in a “safe place” and is under constant security protections and also getting medical attention.
