Gauteng: At 05H28 Sunday morning, Netcare 911 responded to a collision on the R42 between Henley on Klip and Uitvlug in Vereeniging.

Reports indicate that a truck and car were involved in a collision, resulting in the rolling, ejecting a passenger in the process.

Medics assessed the scene and found that four occupants of the car, including a 3-year-old female, had sustained fatal injuries and were declared deceased on the scene.

A fifth occupant of the car had sustained serious injuries and was treated and stabilised on scene before being transported by private ambulance to hospital for further care.

In More News – Farmer who allegedly defrauded Ters fund expected back in court

A Graafwater farmer who is alleged to have exploited vulnerable workers and defrauded the UIF Covid-19 Temporary Employer/Employee Relief Scheme (Ters) fund, is expected back in court next month.

The Dagbreek Farm farmer was granted R5 000 bail during a brief appearance at the Clanwilliam Magistrate’s Court last week, following his arrest on September 16.

The Department of Employment and Labour had worked with police to track down the farmer who allegedly defrauded the fund of R109 376.39, claiming Ters for seven employees for the period of March 27 until September 15, without their knowledge. Read More
