Former YoTV presenter Crazy Lu cremated in Cambodia

The family of rapper Luther ‘Crazy Lu’ Cohen has returned to South Africa with his ashes
The former YoTV presenter died in the Southeast Asian nation earlier this month after reportedly suffering an asthma attack. He is believed to have had asthma his whole life. The musician’s family travelled to Cambodia last week.

His brother, TV producer Marvin Cohen told Channel 24 that he was cremated during a Buddhist ceremony on Tuesday. The rapper died on November 8, but his family could only travel to Cambodia on November 15 because of a public holiday and three-day water festival taking place in the country. Many businesses in the area had closed shop for the festivities.

Marvin revealed that collecting Crazy Lu’s remains from the temple where it was being stored was not an easy process. The process was a nightmare because the funeral home held his body hostage until they received their money. But the actual service and cremation went as well as these things can go,” Marvin told Channel 24.

The family is expected to hold a memorial service for the rapper in South Africa. Before flying to Cambodia, Marvin took to Instagram to share a special tribute in honour of his brother. Rest easy baby brother. I’m so proud of the man you became. You built a successful life in Cambodia when things didn’t work out for you here. I was so proud of you. You were ahead of your time. Your influence will always be felt,” he wrote. Marvin added that he is going to miss their Saturday chats. So sad that a talent like yours has been taken away from us. My heart breaks for my mother. Rest easy baby brother.
