Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Anele Ngcongca has died

Former Mamelodi Sundowns defender Anele Ngcongca has died. Ngcongca was 33. He was involved in a car crash in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday morning.

Ngcongca was thrown from the vehicle and died on the scene. His female companion is in a critical condition in hospital.

Ngcongca was recently released by Sundowns to play for AmaZulu.

Ngcongca enjoyed a stunning career which led him to Belgium, where he turned out for KRC Genk, and France, where he served Troyes in Ligue 1 for a season, before returning to South Africa to join The Brazilians.

He also earned over 50 senior international caps with Bafana Bafana, including an appearance at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
