A dynamic and fast-paced logistics and recycling company requires the services of a well trained Fleet Supervisor who has managed a medium to a large company owned fleet of trucks – (NOT a 3rd Party / outsourced fleet) and a team of Code 14 drivers within a unionized environment.

The ideal candidate will be required to effect the supervision of drivers and assistants on a day-to-day basis, particularly with regard to Operational efficiencies and service delivery as well as maintain a well-disciplined, high-performance workforce and ensure the administrative operating details are accurate and complete.

Duties & Responsibilities
Ensure all staff has correct PPE and suitable equipment to perform their task.
Ensure drivers are correctly briefed and movements are planned to obtain maximum efficiency.
Ensure drivers are correctly debriefed after the day’s work has been completed.
Complete clock-card on a daily basis and verify hours worked.
Conduct regular route audits and inspections at landfill, recycling and disposal facilities.
Monitor employees’ key performance areas and take relevant action
Participate in accident and incident investigation and disciplinary hearings as and when required.
Ensure SHEQ & IR policies are adhered to according to the agreed criteria.
Ensure that the Depot is kept in a good and neat condition
Ensure efficient dispatching of vehicles.
Ensure service levels meet customers’ expectations.
Maintain regular communication with Sales and Customer Liaison regarding opportunities, carry over’s and problems.
Ensure correct allocation of staff and fleet to product lines and depots for cost allocation purposes.
Spot check vehicles for compliance.
Monitor absenteeism, take appropriate action and organize replacement staff
Be aware of new and existing transport regulations and policies.
Monitor costs associated with designated product lines
Booking of manifest
General supervision of the fleet controllers
Gathering, checking, and logging paperwork coming from operations – Tripsheets,Daily vehicle checklist inpections, time sheets
Fleet tracking
Planning and scheduling of fleet, including releasing fleet to the workshop for inspections and maintenance.
Monitoring and calculation of fuel consumption

Desired Experience & Qualification
Matric (Grade 12)

A Qualification in Transport/Logistics ( Essential)

Code 14 driver’s license. ( An advantage)

At least 2 years’ experience as a Fleet Controller ( Essential)

Fuel Management and Vehicle Service Interval Tracking ( Essential)
