A 19-year old man was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder and attempted murder of a farmer and his wife in Bonnievale in the Western Cape.
Liezel Wessels is recovering in hospital after she was tortured with boiling water and stabbed until she lost consciousness on Monday night.
Her husband, Tool, did not survive the attack.
The four alleged attackers worked on the farm and are Lesotho citizens.
One of them was arrested in McGregor on Tuesday night.
Last year, 62 farm murders were recorded in South Africa.
The Western Cape has seen a significant rise in violence on farms and smallholdings.
More than double the previous year’s amount of Western Cape farm murders have been recorded over the past six months.
