At approximately 07H13 on Sunday 15 April 2018, Netcare 911 responded to reports of a very serious collision on the N1 southbound, at the split, in the Buccleuch Interchange.
Paramedics from Netcare 911 and other services attended to approximately eighteen injured people at the scene. Tragically a female in her forties sustained severe injuries and died at the scene. Documentation pertaining to her death was completed by Netcare 911 and handed over to authorities at the scene.
Seventeen other patients sustained injuries ranging from moderate to very serious.
The Netcare 911 specialised helicopter ambulance airlifted a female in her forties who had sustained severe injuries and was placed on a ventilator at the scene before being flown to a specialist Trauma Unit for the urgent care that she required.
Fire Fighters used the “Jaws of Life” to free the victims who were trapped in the wreckage.
The JMPD were at the scene and the road was closed for a thorough investigation resulting in major delays from Midrand towards Buccleuch.
