Unathi on the lessons Brenda Fassie taught her

Unathi Nkayi is not afraid to reference living and past legends. Over the years, she has paid tribute to some of the musicians she looks up to. The media personality has been in the entertainment industry for several years and she has achieved career highs.

On what would have been Brenda Fassie’s 54th birthday, Unathi took to her Instagram to share the lessons the late icon taught her, “Sis Brenda you would have been 54 TODAY! I miss you Madlom’ uSophitsho Ngqolomsila Yemyem.Unathi Nkayi

I miss the lectures you’d give Lebo and I about staying humble and letting them think we’re stupid and killing them with our stage presence. I miss you telling me about the places you NEVER wanted to see me at and the men you never wanted me to date. I miss you tribeswoman ka Mamam. I miss you fellow Scorpio,” she wrote.

A couple of months ago, there were talks that there would be a biopic based on Brenda Fassie’s life and her former manager, Chicco Twala shut down the rumours.

“Besides my company having the rights, I have never been consulted by anyone. I feel disrespected and undermined, especially being the one who has written and produced almost 75%of the late singer’s songs. Without the music I wrote and produced for Brenda, there will be no movie. This movie is not going to happen, he told City Press.
