EVENTS organiser Sibusiso Mkhulisi is angry after Samthing Soweto allegedly didn’t pitch at his show. I can’t disclose the actual fee but I can tell you that we paid him more than R70 000 towards his performance and we have proof of this,” said Sibusiso. The first payment was made on 28 November and the second one on 25 December.
The Akulaleki hitmaker was billed to perform at the 12th Newcastle Amcor Dam Music Festival in KZN. Sibusiso said Samthing Soweto was scheduled to perform at 11pm. But on the day he no longer took our calls. During the event and afterwards we kept calling him, but he was nowhere to be found,” he claimed. “Ever since we paid him we haven’t been able to locate him. We’re appealing to him to pay back the money since he never fulfilled the agreement. We have already sent them our banking details for a refund,” said Sibusiso. He told Daily Sun he’d like to apologise to all those who attended the show but didn’t see their favourite acts.
“It wasn’t my fault,” he said. Samthing’s manager, Collin Mokgaotsi, claimed the promoter didn’t fulfil all the contractual obligations. The terms of the booking contract are between the promoter of the event and the booking agency that’s responsible for the artist’s touring schedule,” said Tumi. Samthing Soweto has never failed to arrive at an event, as long as the promoter’s obligations are fully met.
