After the president revealed plans to have a nationwide 3-week lockdown, some actors have voiced out their concerns on how will they survive financially during the lockdown. Other SABC soapies have committed themselves to adhering to the laws that govern the country during this trying time. Now, Multichoice has also come out to support their actors and production team as well as freelancers who work for Supersport.
The leading investor in local content production has committed to pay full salaries of cast & crew on their local shows. This amounts to R80-million which is enough for March and April. According to The Citizen, all soaps on the channel have been asked to provide at least 30 days of content before the lockdown, which began on Thursday March 26.
A part of the statement reads; “The need to secure salaries for our creatives goes a long way in creating income stability for them and their families. We believe this is to be critical for the industry and in our view simply the right thing do.
