Driver airlifted to hospital following head in crash with tree

Gauteng: At 11H53 Friday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on James Street in Sandringham.

Reports from the scene indicate that the driver of a light motor vehicle lost control crashing into a tree.

Medics assessed the 21-year-old male patient and found he had sustained serious injuries.

Fire and Rescue Services had to use the Jaws of Life to free the man trapped in the wreckage.

Driver airlifted to hospital

The patient was treated on scene by Netcare 911 and Hatzolah ambulance services and required Advanced Life Support intervention to stabilise him.

Due to the nature of his injuries the Netcare 2 helicopter ambulance was activated to airlift the patient to hospital for further treatment.

All necessary authorities were on scene.
