Award-winning Gqom musician and producer DJ Tira had twitter abuzz recently when he announced he was willing to donate a whopping R5 000 towards a good cause. The tweet gained momentum and saw tweeps being hard at work sharing their personal stories and reasons as to why they deserve to be offered moola.
The Dj won the money in a bet with Popular yet controversial anonymous Twitter account Man’s Not Barry Roux (@AdvBarryRoux).
It is heartwarming to learn that Tira decided to lend a helping hand towards a good cause specifically education which sees many students giving up on their dreams due to financial constraints.

The hashtag was dominated by students who needed some financial relief. Some have been financially excluded by bursaries and had given up but Tira brought some light. Tira chose his winner who claimed the 5K after the #DjTiraGiveMeThisR5000Because went viral.
Congratulations messages swarmed his feed although many said his story was not sad enough however, he is stress-free because he will use the money towards his fees. The first-year student at the University of Johannesburg said he is paying for his own textbooks and fees but with this, he has received some much-needed relief.
