General overview of position:

The Divisional Accountant is accountable for all transactions to finalising the trial balance for all companies under the division.

Duties

· Prepare, examine, and analyse accounting records, management accounts, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards

· Preparation of annual financial statements and all supporting schedules for the audit file

· Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements

· Analyse business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice

· Develop, maintain, and analyse budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs

· Advise management about issues such as resource utilization, tax strategies, and the assumptions underlying budget forecasts

· Preparation of accurate Balance Sheet & other reconciliations

· Maintenance of fixed asset registers

· Balancing of intergroup loan accounts

· Weekly review of intercompany debtors and creditors balances

· Overall management of Division Accounting

· Assist in releasing payments

· Preparation of Board reports

· Any other duties as delegated by the Finance Manager

Other

Perform other related duties as and when required.

Required Skills
bcom accounting
preparation of financial statement and report : 2 to 3 years
budgeting preparation and monitoring : 2 to 3 years
Tax and IFRS knowledge : 2 to 3 years
Accountant experience : 3 to 4 years
Balance Sheet and reconciliations : 2 to 3 years

Qualifications & experience

· Bcom Accounting as a minimum

· Articles with a reputable audit firm an added advantage

· Minimum 3 years work experience in a relevant role
