Cristiano Ronaldo “offered to Barcelona” for a chance to pair him with Messi

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi in the same team. Fantasy football. The stuff of dreams

But it could well become reality according to latest reports.

The 35-year-old forward is on huge money at Juventus and still has two years left of his contract to run.

Juventus are keen to reduce their wage bill and see offloading their top goalscorer as the best solution.

And according to Spanish football expert Guillem Balague, Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has been touting his client to other clubs amid interest from PSG, with Barcelona also among those contacted.

“The reason why Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked to PSG is not so much that PSG are thinking of getting him, it is because Jorge Mendes has been given instructions to find a team for Ronaldo,” Balague told BBC Radio 5 Live.

Cristiano Ronaldo“We’ve seen this in the last six months, he was linked to Real Madrid.

“They said no chance, he’s not coming back.

“And there’s been talks about the MLS because Juventus want to get rid of that wage.

“It is as drastic as that. He’s been offered everywhere, including Barcelona.”

Ronaldo has won the Serie A title twice in two years with Juventus, although the club did win it seven years in succession prior to his arrival.

The Champions League title still eludes them though, with their latest showing a disappointing last-16 exit at the hands of Lyon, despite Ronaldo’s best efforts.

On a personal level Ronaldo has been bang in form, scoring 37 goals this season – 31 of which were in the league, second only to prolific Lazio frontman Ciro Immobile.

However moving on a player of Ronaldo’s status is not a simple equation, and Balague feels Juventus will struggle to shift the man they spent £100million on just two years ago.

“I’m not sure if they can get rid of him easily [because] with the kind of money he still earns – 23million euros net (£20.7m) – that he was earning at Real Madrid and I think he equalled those wages when he went to Juventus.

“Who is going to pay that kind of money?”
