COVID-19 vaccine trials starting later this year

South Africa might see coronavirus vaccine trials starting later this year. That’s according to South African Medical Research Council president and CEO Dr Glenda Gray.

“The initial trial will happen in the US and we hope to start our trials after that …around October/November,” Gray said. Gray said South Africa is well equipped to carry out these trials. She added that before the trial begins, it’s safety will have to established preclinical. About 20, 000 participants worldwide will be part of the trial.
