Conor McGregor arrested in Florida

The MMA star was seen on surveillance camera stealing a fan’s phone.
Fans of MMA fighter Conor McGregor may get to see the star back in a cage sooner than they think as he was booked into Miami-Dade Jail on charges of criminal mischief and strong-armed robbery on Monday evening.

According to an arrest report, McGregor and a fan were leaving the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel, home to the LIV nightclub, just after 5am on Monday. Surveillance footage allegedly shows the fan attempting to take a photo of McGregor who then reacts violently, slapping the fan’s phone out of his hand, and stomping on it several times before walking away with it.

Police spent the day investigating the incident before arresting McGregor at a home in Miami Beach. He was released from the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center just after 10 pm on $12,500 bail.

McGregor’s attorney’s released the following statement: “Last evening Conor McGregor was involved a minor altercation over a cellphone that resulted in a call to law enforcement… Mr McGregor appreciates the response of law enforcement and pledges his full cooperation.”

Monday’s incident came just three days after McGregor completed his probation for a violent altercation last April in Brooklyn when he attacked a bus carrying several UFC fighters by throwing a dolly through a window.
