Child rescued after being washed off rocks

KwaZulu-Natal: At 09H14 Sunday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a drowning at the Westbrook Beach North of Durban.

Reports indicate that an 08-year-old female was knocked off the rocks by a large and washed into the choppy surf.

The Ethekwini Lifeguards were quick to respond after noticing the child in distress.

She was pulled to shore where Lifeguards and C.E.R.T rendered first-aid.

The young girl was assessed on scene by a Netcare 911 Emergency Care Practitioner and once stabilised was transported by ambulance to the hospital for symptoms of non-fatal drowning.

The DA said should it find that taxpayer’s money was used during Police Minister Bheki Cele’s visit to former president Jacob Zuma, it must be refunded.

Cele visited Zuma in KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday without disclosing detailed reasons for his visit.

But the minister said they wanted Zuma to voice his concerns.

Cele’s visit comes at a time when the former president is facing legal action over his refusal to cooperate with the State Capture Commission. learn more
