Mduduzi Msomi (39) met Phindile Mthembu (35) met in 2003, Phindile was working at a bakery that also sold food where Mduduzi and his colleagues would often frequent. “I used to love her food so much, I’d pray that she would become my wife so that I could have her food everyday ” recalls Mduduzi. He would offer her lifts after work, but she would avoid as she was already in a relationship and so was he.
She relocated to Pinetown, and she lost her phone in the process . The two were out of touch until she recovered her numbers and made contact. ” When I got my phone back, I called him.
Mduduzi was pleasantly surprised by the phone call as he thought that she was not interested. In 2004, Mduduzi had to organise a team of 12 people to help him with the elections in Kokstad, and he invited her to come along. The two got the chance to talk and ignite the chemistry and realised that they were a match made in heaven and have been inseparable ever since.
The pair have encountered many challenges, falling pregnant out of wedlock would mean Phindile’s family would kick her out of home. His first wife also strongly disapproved of Phindile, although she knew that Phindile was soon to be the second wife.

Eventually it led to a strain in his first marriage, and in 2009 he got a divorce. Mduduzi and Phindile are now in a monogamous relationship, The two have three children together and are finally ready to make it official with their white and traditional wedding!
