The Cape Town International Animation Festival (CTIAF) is the biggest festival dedicated to animation in Africa. This year marks the festival’s ninth year and will include workshops, film screenings, business sessions and more. CTIAF will take place between 1-3 October at the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock. The talks will cover several topics from building an idea into a screenplay to editing animation. Other topics will include learning how to navigate Adobe After Effects for editors and diving deep into the mind of a producer.
The festival will cater to both physical and virtual audiences and is an exciting place to expand your network, master your craft and check out a few films.
One screening that you can look forward too is Petit Vampire directed by French film director and cartoonist Joann Sfar. The film explores a friendship between an orphan schoolboy and a vampire that doesn’t age.
There is also good news for Comic Con fans! There will be Comic Con pop-up for one day only in Cape Town on 2 October.
Comic Con fans can expect to get involved in a few cosplay competitions, pop culture quizzes and fandom meet-ups. There will also be gaming competitions and films for everyone to see!
