Beyoncé and Jay Z’s relationship has stood the test of time #Powercouple

Power couple Beyoncé and Jay Z celebrated their wedding anniversary. The couple, who are worth over $1-billion, have had some ups and downs along the way but they couldn’t be more in love.

Mr and Mrs Carter are proof that marriage takes a lot of hard work and commitment.
Beyoncé and Jay-Z cemented their status as a power couple with the release of their hit single, 03 Bonnie & Clyde.
The couple had reportedly been seeing each other secretly for at least two years before the song’s video dropped in 2002. It was clear from the video that the couple were smitten with each other – and so began their incredible love story.

They made their first red-carpet appearance at the 2004 MTV VMAs.

In 2008, Jay Z and Beyoncé tied the knot in a private ceremony in New York. It would be years before the couple released any footage from their big day. They got matching IV tattoos on their “ring” fingers to celebrate their union.

“What Jay and I have is real. It’s not about interviews or getting the right photo op. It’s real,” Beyoncé told Essence magazine that same year.

Beyoncé made a surprise announcement at the 2011 MTV VMAs – she was pregnant with her first child. She would go on to welcome the couple’s first daughter, Blue Ivy in 2012.

The couple’s road to parenthood was not easy. The singer revealed in her Life Is But A Dream documentary that she suffered a miscarriage in 2010. “About two years ago, I was pregnant for the first time. And I heard the heartbeat, which was the most beautiful music I ever heard in my life… I picked out names… I envisioned what my child would look like… I was feeling very maternal… I flew back to New York to get my check up – and no heartbeat,” she said.

Beyoncé became a mother of three in 2017, when she welcomed twins, Rumi and Sir.

A few years before welcoming their twin, Beyoncé and Jay faced one of their biggest scandals. Video footage surfaced in 2014 of the Crazy in Love hitmaker’s sister Solange Knowles hitting Jay Z in an elevator after the Met Gala.

Beyoncé calmly looked on as a furious Solange kicked the rapper. She had to be restrained by a bodyguard. They all walked out of the elevator like nothing happened.

Solange was allegedly upset with Jay Z for getting too close with another woman. The rapper addressed the elevator incident when he released his 2017 album, 4:44. He apologised to both his wife and his sister-in-law.

“You egged Solange on / Knowin’ all along, all you had to say you was wrong / You almost went Eric Benét / Let the baddest girl in the world get away / I don’t even know what else to say / N***a, never go full Eric Benét / I don’t even know what you woulda done / In the future, other n***as playin’ football with your son,” he rapped on Kill Jay Z.

Beyoncé all but confirmed the infidelity issues in her relationship when she dropped her critically acclaimed album, Lemonade, in 2016. She poured her heart out in singles like, Love Drought, Hold Up and Sorry.

“They sneaking out the back door. He only want me when I’m not there. He better call Becky with the good hair,” she sings on Sorry.

The lyrics trended on Twitter with many in the Beyhive trying to track “Becky” down. Celebrity chef, Rachael Ray, was caught in the crossfire when fans mistook her for Jay Z’s mistress, whose name was allegedly Rachel.
