Kaizer Chiefs gives an update on Khama Billiat’s absence

Kaizer Chiefs have issued an update on the situation regarding Khama Billiat after he missed the trip to Durban for tonight’s Absa Premiership clash with Black Leopards.

Billiat featured in the Carling Black Label Cup last month after returning from the African Cup of Nations in Egypt, but was a notable absentee when the club went into battle against Highlands Park on the first day of their league campaign.

Now, with tonight’s clash with Lidoda Duvha taking place in Durban, the club have confirmed that the 28-year-old did not travel with the team, saying that it’s for medical reasons, amid constant rumours of a potential Naturena exit.

An update on the club’s official website read, “Billiat is recovering from a minor knee injury picked up during pre-season. He had a scan and is now being managed by medical team.”

They are, however, welcoming back two players in the shape of Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya and Leonardo Castro, who missed the win over the Lions of the North due to suspension and injury respectively.

Their head coach, Ernst Middendorp, said, “It is great to welcome back Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya from one match ban… He will give us options in the back row of the line-up. Leo missed the Highlands Park match due to an injury, Leo’s availability is giving us options in the attacking half of our plans.”

Yagan Sasman will sit out this evening’s game as he serves the second game of his suspension after being sent off in the last game of the 2018/19 season for Ajax Cape Town.
