It’s quite seldom in Celebville that we see couples that stand the test of time. However, Romeo and Basetsana Kumalo are the exception. Today, the Kumalos celebrate 20 years of marriage and 23 years together.
“23 years of doing life with you and 20 years of being Mrs Kumalo.” wrote Basetsana Kumalo on social media.”From the day I met you, I knew I have met an incredible man, with a beautiful soul, a kind heart.”
At the time little did she know that Romeo would play a significant role in her life.
“I didn’t quite know what a gift you would be to my life journey, what deep and profound joy you would bring me, what life long memories we would go on and create.”
In her heartfelt message, Basi reveals that her husband of 20-years has brought the best out of her.
“You never for a minute sought to change me, but accepted me with all that I am. You have always propelled me to soar to greater heights, believed in my dreams, cheered me on and even laughed at some of my lame jokes. I didn’t know one could be loved so deeply, intentionally, intensely and ever so beautifully.
The former Miss South Africa then proceeded to thank her husband for the good that he has brought in her life. “Thank you for all that you are to me.
Thank you for our beautiful children. Thank you for the respect of our family. Thank you for all the times I don’t always say thank you. Thank you for providing for us as the head of our household. Thank you for loving your children so fiercely that nothing compares. Throughout the seasons of our lives, I knew I could depend on you.”
One would think that after 20 years of marriage that excitement from earlier on would have slightly gone down, but not in this union.
“As we advance in age, I look forward to the memories of us still holding hands in sunsets. I’m truly one lucky woman to call you my husband, the father of my children.
“May the Divine hand of God always be upon you. Happy 20th Anniversary to us Sthandwa sam’. I love you diminished at least, but not in this union. Basetsana looks to spending many more years with hubby.
As we advance in age, I look forward to the memories of us still holding hands in sunsets. I’m truly one lucky woman to call you my husband, the father of my children. May the Divine hand of God always be upon you. Happy 20th Anniversary to us Sthandwa sam’. I love you.”
In closing, Mrs Kumalo quoted 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 from the Holy Bible which touches on the characteristics of love.
