Shock as Arsenal star Aubameyang leaves for toilet during the Game

African superstar Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang surprised many when he left the field during Arsenal’s shock loss for a toilet break on Thursday night, and his manager has since had his say on the matter.

The Gunners’ winless streak continued against Brighton & Hove Albion, after a late goal from Neal Maupay secured a 2-1 victory for the visitors at the Emirates.

Arsenal’s fight was not made easier by captain Aubameyang, who left his side with 10 men when he left the field during the match for a few minutes to use the bathroom.

Interim manager Freddie Ljungberg, however, defended the 30-year-old striker afterwards, saying he cannot be blamed for needing to go when he had to.

“I actually didn’t even notice he went off; I just saw him come back on after he’d been off for a couple of minutes,” he said, according to the Daily Mail.

“When you need to go, you need to go.”

Arsenal supporters were said to be furious with the former Borussia Dortmund forward, especially as the Gunners were chasing a goal when he made his way down the tunnel.

The London club has now failed to win any of their past nine matches across all competitions, with their last victory coming in October.
