Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an experienced Assistant Food & Beverage Manager for a well-established Guesthouse in the KZN Midlands.
Successful applicant MUST have 5* experience
Live In Position – R10 000.00
Provided for Individual only (900m from Hotel) – make up of a room and shower en suite. Communal lounge and kitchen area for all. Deductions are made for Housekeeping – R400.00 per month for a maid to clean the room once a week and for all laundry to be done. Electricity is deducted based on usage.
Uniforms provided for summer and winter.
Part of Management team – Duty Manager shifts will be required in the Main Hotel.
6 Day week – 6 days off every 4 weeks / taken each week (not accumulated). 18 days Annual Leave per annum
Work, Excel, Opera and Micros required. Microsoft Office required.
Overview of Job
The Assistant Food & Beverage Manager will be required to manage the Food & Beverage team and ensure that standards are upheld in all areas at all times.
Assist in managing the operation of the food and beverage production and service.
You will assist in the marketing and promoting all food and beverage products to maximise sales and will participate in developing and implementing food promotions, new menus and systems.
Developing budgets, sales targets, control costs and for purchasing stock. You manage systems of control, developing and updating standards.
You will assist in the development and monitor staff in obtaining the highest standards of service and customer care and will take responsibility for and monitor the training and development of all staff.
As part of your role you will monitor licensing laws and other legal requirements and maintain staff awareness and comply with health and safety, fire and hygiene regulations.
You will ensure all administration procedures are accurately completed and will maintain a high standard of personal presentation and punctuality.
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHIMIS) certification is an asset and may be required
Knowledge Health and safety Quality control Fire and emergency procedures
Assist in Financial management
Producing reports and stock control
Assist in Menu development Sales and marketing Micros POS is a requirement
Highly Developed Communication Skills
Awareness of management practices and procedures
Physically very fit
Ability to work with a multi-cultural team

Strong attention to detail is of the utmost importance
Minimum 2 years in a similar position in a 5 Star Hotel
