Secunda Synfuels Operations
Secunda Synfuels Operations (SSO) operates the world’s largest coal-to-liquids (CTL) facility and produces synthesis gas (syngas) through coal gasification and natural gas reforming, using Sasol’s unique and proprietary Fischer-Tropsch technology to manufacture synthetic fuel components, pipeline gas and chemical feedstock.
ABOUT THE ROLE / PURPOSE OF THE JOB
General Mechanical Maintenance to the Oxygen plants
FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS
Knowledge of Pumps, fans, different types of bearings and gearboxes
Must be able to do alignment of rotating equipment using a laser/DTI
Ability to work with measuring instruments
Basic Computer literacy
Fault Finding
Understand principles of how turbines and compressors function
Perform standby duties
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Approximately two years Rotating Equipment experience
Good knowledge of the behaviour of rotating equipment
Coaching maintenance assistance and Operators
Basic rigging (5 ton)
Work management adherence. (Should be able to explain to Foreman)
Conduct quality equipment/ inspections (Job cards initiated from inspection)
Hazard identification/task risk assessment
JOB REQUIREMENTS
In addition to a pre-employment medical examination, some positions may require a physical fitness assessment as part of the normal selection criteria.
Valid Driver’s license
QUALIFICATIONS
National Senior Certificate (with English, Maths and Science)
NQF 4/Trade Test Mechanical Fitter
Rotating equipment specific experience
Diesel mechanic experience will be to your advantage
