Another peek at the new Mazda3

Official details are still thin on the ground at this stage, but Mazda is promising a more mature interpretation of its current Kodo design language, while boldly claiming that it marks the beginning of “a whole new generation of Mazda cars that will deliver new dimensions of driving pleasure.”

Another peek at the new Mazda3. Mazda has confirmed that it’ll be pulling the covers off its all-new Mazda3 at the Los Angeles Auto Show, which opens on November 28.

What else do we know so far?

The teaser pics and videos that have been released thus far show that the hatchback version’s styling will remain faithful to last year’s Kai concept, while the latest preview pic confirms that there will also be a sleek sedan derivative. Find a used Mazda3 on Drive360

The new 3 is based around a new version of the company’s ‘Skyactiv’ vehicle architecture, announced with the Kai concept last year, and promising a “considerably quieter and more comfortable ride”.

Mazda’s latest press release mentions Skyactiv engines, but there’s no word yet on whether the revolutionary new Skyactiv-X petrol engine will be offered. This will be the world’s first series-produced petrol engine to use diesel-like compression ignition.
