Another cash-in-transit heist in Meyerton

Another cash-in-transit heist in Meyerton. When Minister Bheki Cele took office earlier this year the police made a concerted effort with cash heists and bust several suspects.

THE evil snake that is cash-in-transit heists has many heads. But the snake has regrown another head and on Saturday it struck again!

According to sources, a group of robbers used three getaway cars – two of them Mercedes-Benzes and the third a BMW 3-series.

“The men bombed the cash van and gained access to the money and fled the scene. No arrests have been made, but crime intelligence, the Hawks, forensics and technical teams are working around the clock to find the suspects,” he said.

In another incident, a snake’s head was crushed on the R57 highway between QwaQwa and Bethlehem in Free State, when a cash-in-transit heist was foiled before the thugs could cash in.

The suspects were observed near Kestell. They were travelling in two different vehicles. A police task team confronted them and a shoot-out ensued.

Six men were arrested.
