Heavy K in trouble with Botswana police over alleged R87K debt

Botswana officials reportedly issued a warrant of arrest for South African house DJ, Heavy K. According to the Daily Sun, Morobosi Entertainment took the producer to court for a R87 000 debt. The promoter claims Heavy K owes the money after failing to turn up for the Morobosi Festival in 2017.

Police allegedly waited for Heavy K outside the Bahama Lounge in Gaborone on Sunday night. They went outside and spoke in the car before they left him to go back into the club,” a source told the publication.

Police officials confirmed they were on the scene, but let the DJ go as “the matter was found to be a civil case”. According to SowetanLIVE, the Lobatse High Court in Botswana issued the warrant after Heavy K failed to appear in court. We command that you take Mkhluli Siqula, if he is found in this country, and safely keep him so that you have him before the above-named High Court at Lobatse on the 15th of August, at 2pm,” the publication quoted court papers.

Heavy K responded to the news of his arrest after a Twitter user shared a screenshot of a Botswana article. Bro I’m safe! I’ll deal with this legally & the same people will go back to social media to apologize again,” he wrote in a since deleted tweet. It’s unclear whether the DJ still has to appear in a Botswana court on August 15.
