DJ Tira’s Fact Durban Rocks is just weeks away but for the second year in a row, there are major changes that affect attendance. Fans cannot help but wonder if the vaccine mandate he “joked” about is still put in place or not.
Fact Durban Rocks is Durban’s biggest concert in December and yearly, they deliver some of the hottest acts to usher fans into the new year. Last year, due to the strict COVID-19 lockdown, the concert did take place but it did so without an audience on sight.
This year, because the lockdown regulations are a bit more lenient, there can be an audience but they are limited.
Taking to social media, DJ Tira announced that limited tickets will be sold from December 17. The concert will take place at Moses Mabhida on December 31.

He makes no mention of the vaccine mandate he joked about. If you may recall he landed himself in trouble when told partygoers that they would not be allowed in if they do not show proof of vaccination.
“Fact Durban Rocks December 2021. No vaccine card. No Entry.” he wrote. After receiving backlash, he then asked why are people scared of injections, “Why you so scared of umjovo.”
Speaking to Sunday World a month ago, Tira said they plan on having 2000 people, “If I do pre-production then I can present something on Tv that’s going to go over midnight like I did last year. But the plan is to have 2000 people and also for the event to be live. Everything is still under preps and at the moment I’m still finalizing a few things here and there, and yes the event will be way different. You can imagine downgrading from 20000 to 2000 people,” said Tira to the publication.
But he quickly had to retract his statements when he was seen playing at a packed event at the Cosmopolitan Lounge where there were masks on sight.
“While (you are) yap yapping about my name don’t forget I don’t own a venue, I’m a Dj I get booked to come and perform, get paid and go home. Be responsible and remove yourself from places that may be a danger to your health. Makoya Bearings #RockstarForever 21 Years of greatness,” Tira said in his defense.
It came to the point where Tira got called a vaccine influencer but he said he will give anyone R10 000 if they prove he is paid by the government to promote it, “If anyone can bring proof that I got paid for tweeting about the vaccine I will pay you R10, 000 plus all the money you say got as this is a “paid promo”. Sometimes in life you must just do what you think is right and forget about the noise.”
