Restaurants demand answers from the government on alcohol sale ban

The Restaurant Association of South Africa wants government to explain why alcohol cannot be served when they re-open from Monday. Some restaurants say they will not open without alcohol as it isn’t feasible to do so.

The association says it’s giving government seven days to reply with written reasons.

The hospitality industry is one of the sectors that is being allowed to reopen under advanced level 3.

Over a million people are employed by the restaurant industry, and it is one of the hardest hit by the lockdown.
