AKA clears the air on the Rolex scandal after debt collectors come knocking. The “Fela in Versace” hitmaker’s statement comes after an email from the Sunday World requesting details on the claims was brought to his attention.
AKA took to social media last week to clear the air on claims that he owed a jewellery design company money for a Rolex watch that was “gifted to him by his former business partner”.
Taking to Twitter, AKA – real name Kiernan Forbes – shared screengrabs of the email communication sent to Schofield and Companies by one of the Sunday World’s reporter’s, who was seeking clarity on the debt claims.
AKA wrote: “Sadly, not only was the watch “gifted” to me with my own money but also not paid for in full. Luckily … I hear about these things before they end up in the papers (sic).

According to the publication, AKA received the diamond-encrusted watch from former business partner at the now-defunct Beam Group, Prince “Costinyo” Nyembe, in December last year.
AKA has reportedly settled the outstanding monies with Schofield and publically apologised to the company on Twitter. He wrote: Shout out to @SchofieldandCo … They did an amazing job and I’m personally sorry this stuff ended up in the hands of the newspapers. It definitely came from my end … I don’t know how … (sic)”

Last month AKA announced that he was parting with Beam Group. In a series of tweets, AKA said that the company no longer represents him or manages him “in any capacity” and while he is the owner he is in the process of shutting it down.
Following the Rolex debacle, AKA also revealed that Beam Group closed its doors with over R2 million in debt.
