Advocates Jiba and Mrwebi saga not over yet

It seems the saga for advocates Nomgcobo Jiba and Lawrence Mrwebi is not yet over.

The Portfolio Committee on Justice and Correctional Services held a joint meeting at Parliament on Wednesday on the removal of the pair from the NPA.

President Cyril Ramaphosa upheld a recommendation by the Mokgoro Inquiry that the two are not fit for office.

Jiba was deputy national director of Public Prosecutions and Mrwebi special director of Public Prosecutions.

The pair was suspended in October 2018.

While rules do not provide clear guidance on removal and fitness to hold positions, it’s for the committee to decide.
