2 injured in Carletonville Head-on Accident

2 injured in Carletonville Head-on Accident. Two people were left injured this morning, one of them critically, following a head-on collision between a bakkie and light motor vehicle on the R500 in Carletonville.

ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene at 08h00 to find the bakkie and light motor vehicle on the side of the road. The driver of the bakkie, a man, was found walking around on the scene while the driver of the light motor vehicle, a woman in her 30s, was found trapped inside her vehicle.

Rescue Services had to use specialized equipment to free the entrapped woman, an operation lasting an hour. Once freed, paramedics treated both patients and provided the critically injured woman with advanced life support interventions.

Shortly after treatment, the critically injured woman was airlifted to a private hospital by a private medical helicopter. The man was transported by ambulance. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
